JULY 10�A Japanese pulp and paper manufacturer has selected the SmartView ICN web-inspection system by Cognex Corp. (NATICK, MA--www.cognex.com) to perform automated quality inspection at one of its paper mills. SmartView ICN is a state-of-the-art web-inspection system that automatically detects, identifies, and displays defects in paper and other materials as they are being produced. The Japanese manufacturer will use SmartView ICN systems on its coating and sorting machines to detect wrinkles, spots, and streaks in coated paper and coated board. The finished coated paper and board will be used to package products such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and photo albums.
Cognex has sold more than 100 SmartView ICN systems since its release in February 2000, making it the most successful product launch in the history of Cognex's Surface Inspection Systems Division.
