MARCH 25, 2008--ISRA Vision (Darmstadt, Germany;www.isravision.com), a supplier of industrial image-processing technology, has won strategic contracts in both the metal and flat-panel-display (FPD) glass business units. In the USA, ArcelorMittal is purchasing two additional inspection solutions from ISRA. In Asia, ISRA has won a follow-up order for an FPD glass inspection system from a Japanese manufacturer. ArcelorMittal is expanding its inspection infrastructure with the systems, using them to optimize and precisely control the processes at the Burns Harbor factory. The recent order from Japan will serve to significantly strengthen ISRA's market position in Japan.
ISRA uses digital image-processing technology for the optical inspection of endless web materials (such as glass, film, nonwovens, paper) and for robot-guidance tasks in the context of automated production and packaging. According to estimates, at present only some 25% of possible applications are being exploited. Currently the global market volume comes to some €6.5 billion. Annual growth rates worldwide are currently estimated at between 7% and 10%.
