AUTOMATICA 2006 exceeds expectations

MAY 22--More than 28,500 trade visitors from 84 countries attended AUTOMATICA 2006 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre, 16--19 May 2006. This year 11,500 more trade visitors were recorded than in 2004 (17,000 trade visitors from 65 countries)--an increase of 68%. The proportion of visitors from abroad rose from 15% to 21.5%. Visitors included those from Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Sweden, Spain, France, and the USA.

At AUTOMATICA 2006 814 exhibitors from 37 countries (2004: 566 exhibitors from 22 countries) presented a wide range of innovative products and solutions in the fields of assembly and handling technology, robotics, and machine vision. The proportion of exhibitors from outside Germany was 27%.

A survey of exhibitors and visitors, conducted by independent market researchers TNS Infratest, revealed that 79% of the exhibitors and 91% of the visitors gave the event the top ranking of 'excellent to good'. The quality of the visitors was given the top rating of 'excellent to good' by 82% of exhibitors. In particular, top marks were given by 92% of exhibitors for the atmosphere at the fair, by 88% for the clear layout of the sections, and by 69% to AUTOMATICA´s leading trade-fair status.

AUTOMATICA 2006 was able to expand its reach to target groups on the visitor side. More than 70% of exhibitors said they had reached the expected visitors from the respective sectors. On the exhibitor side, 93% said they had been very successful in making new business contacts and 85% in intensifying existing contacts.

The next AUTOMATICA takes place 10--13 June 2008 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre.
