OCTOBER 11, 2007--Basler (Ahrensburg, Germany; www.baslerweb.com), a specialist in vision technology, has been commissioned by one of the three largest solar-cell producers to equip its production lines with inspection systems. The inspection systems will be used to avoid material breach in the ongoing production process and to increase the production yield.

Special emphasis is to be placed on the detection of so-called microcracks that can lead to the breaking of solar wafers in the production process. Once they have been detected, the defective solar wafers can be channeled out of the process, leading to a significant reduction in the breach rate and a direct increase in the yield.
