PPT Vision announces repeat 3-D inspection-system sale

JANUARY 28--PPT Vision Inc. (Minneapolis, MN; www.pptvision.com) has received a repeat order for its PPT861 3-D inspection system from a leading manufacturer of hard disk drives. The PPT861 system is used for profiling and inspection of hard-drive suspensions and suspension assemblies, which are critical components of hard drives. The inspection system, based on PPT's patented 3-D scanning moir? interferometry technology, provides both stand-alone and complete high-speed, in-line, production-level inspection of these hard-drive components.

The company plans to ship this system in its first quarter of FY2002. PPT Vision has now sold 16 PPT861 3-D scanning systems.

PPT Vision designs, manufactures, markets, and integrates 2-D and 3-D machine-vision-based automated inspection systems for manufacturing applications. The company's 2-D machine-vision product line is sold to end users, system integrators, and original equipment manufacturers primarily in the electronic and semiconductor component, automotive, medical-device, and packaged-goods industries.
