JUNE 6--NVision Inc. (Coppell, TX; Detroit, MI;www.nvision3d.com) has introduced an enhanced version of its popular ModelMaker laser system, designed specifically for applications where greater detail and a smaller, lighter scanning unit are required. "The new ModelMaker X has been developed specifically for customers needing to scan in areas of restricted access or where even greater detail is required, for example on items with a high level of geometric features or objects with rapidly changing curvature," said Steve Kersen, NVision vice president of sales and marketing.

Designed specifically for high-detail scanning or for objects with restricted access, the ModelMaker X retains all the key features and benefits of the ModelMaker W but is around 60% smaller and 40% lighter. The new scanner features a new robust cable design and sensor mounting arrangement. The new optical arrangement provides enhanced noise rejection characteristics in addition to higher data capture and spatial resolution.

Sensors are available with three different laser stripe widths so that data-capture rates can be maximized depending on the size of object being scanned and point density required. Point spacing, or spatial resolution, as low as 0.025 mm can be achieved.
