CVI completes acquisition of Melles Griot

JULY 26, 2007--CVI (Albuquerque, NM, USA) has completed the acquisition of Melles Griot from Barloworld Scientific Ltd.

JULY 26, 2007--CVI (Albuquerque, NM, USA; www.cvilaser.com), the optical and laser technology company, has completed the acquisition of Melles Griot from Barloworld Scientific Ltd. Stuart Schoenmann, CEO of CVI states, "We are extremely excited about the opportunities this acquisition creates for our customers, employees, and shareholders. We will organize the company around our two fundamental business units: Lasers and Optics & Photonic Products. CVI and Melles Griot will operate under a unified management team and do business as CVI Melles Griot. With worldwide manufacturing and distribution in Asia, Europe, and North America, the new company is positioned to take a leadership position, supplying lasers, optical components, and optomechanical assemblies. This acquisition enables CVI Melles Griot to bring design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of photonic products and optical systems together under one roof. Vertical integration of these capabilities improves quality, performance, and service to CVI Melles Griot customers. Additionally, adding the Melles Griot laser products to the CVI portfolio enables the company to supply highly integrated optical systems and subsystems to its customers through a strong manufacturing platform.
