Largest machine-vision show in North America set for Boston
OCTOBER 25--More than 110 companies occupying some 18,000 square feet of exhibit space will demonstrate the latest machine-vision products at The Vision Show East at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA, Oct. 30--Nov. 1, 2001. Were very proud of the support the machine-vision industry has demonstrated for The Vision Show this year, especially in light of the continuing downturn in capital-equipment expenditures and the recent terrorist attacks, said Jeff Burnstein, executive director of the Automated Imaging Association (AIA; Ann Arbor, MI), the industry trade group that sponsors the event. The fact is that the machine vision industry is alive and well and is open for business.
Burnstein said that when capital-equipment expenditures turn upward again, machine vision is likely to be near the top of the buying list for many manufacturing companies. There are a growing number of applications in industries such as semiconductor, electronics, automotive, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, medical device, and consumer goods that are perfect for machine-vision technology. Thats why the industry has experienced such strong growth over the past several years and will resume its growth in the near future.
An in-depth technical conference, beginning on October 29, accompanies the show. Leading experts from throughout the world will offer presentations that provide practical, real-world guidance on how to successfully apply machine-vision technology. The conference will focus on nontraditional applications for vision as well as established applications. Among the newer applications to be explored are the use of machine vision for security purposes, work zone monitoring, inspection of concrete roof tiles, and detection of road surface defects.
The next event will be held Nov. 19--21, 2002, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
