JUNE 12, 2009--The SmartDragon camera processor connects and simultaneously receives data from up to four FireWire-B (IEEE1394.b) color or black-and-white cameras. Unlike similar processors, it does not rely upon a hard drive for data storage, instead using large-capacity CF cards up to 4 Gbytes. The processor is equipped with an Intel Pentium M 1.4-GHz processor and Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2 embedded as the operating system, along with applications that include NET Framework 2.0 and TeliDCAM with PC-Tri32. TeliDCAM is used as the camera driver. Sample codings of image import areas are included. It features 16 insulated digital input and output terminals to address automated inspection needs in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, packaging, semiconductor, and factory automation.

PRESS RELEASE

SmartDragon Camera Processor Connects Four FireWire-B Machine Vision Cameras Simultaneously

IRVINE, CA, April 29, 2009 - The Toshiba Teli SmartDragon camera processor achieves maximum flexibility for industrial imaging systems with its capability to connect and simultaneously receive data from up to four FireWire-B (IEEE1394.b) color or black-and-white cameras. Unlike similar processors, SmartDragon does not rely upon a hard drive for data storage, instead using large-capacity CF cards up to 4GB to realize greater reliability in industrial environments.

Taking maximum advantage of FireWire-B's 800Mbps speed, the compact and simple-to-integrate SmartDragon (model # iIS-BF4) features 16 insulated digital input and output terminals to address the automated inspection needs in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, packaging, semiconductors and factory automation.

An external trigger input is used to input signals at the desired timing with variations in delay times and pulse widths, and then output from the unit's external trigger output. In addition, there are inputs for Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45), USB devices, RS-232C, and connections for a PC display, mouse and keyboard.

The SmartDragon is equipped with an Intel Pentium M 1.4GHz processor. On the software side, it has Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2 embedded as its operating system, along with applications that include NET Framework 2.0 and Toshiba Teli's TeliDCAM with PC-Tri32. TeliDCAM is used as the camera driver for simple import and control of camera images. In addition, sample codings of image import areas, essential for image processing, are included.
