MARCH 28--DataLase (formerly Sherwood Technology; Widnes, UK) has announced the expansion of its UK headquarters in Widnes. The investment in the facility reflects the company's commitment to its growth, which is the result of its success with its process that uses a combination of color-change chemistry and low-power laser light for a range of applications. The expanded Widnes facility features large R&D and physics laboratories, as well as a customer meeting area and a dedicated customer demo laboratory. In addition, the Widnes facility houses a new sales office.
DataLase has developed a number of commercial applications utilizing its process and is now poised to bring several new fully integrated techniques to market. The company plans to launch complete market-ready solutions during 2006 for a range of product-identification applications including label replacement and on-product marking.
