NOVEMBER 28--Emhart Glass (Akron, OH, USA), an international supplier of equipment, controls, and parts to the glass-container industry, recently recognized Applied Vision (Akron, OH, USA; www.appliedvision.com) for helping to raise the level of quality within its Veritas series of inspection systems. Applied Vision designs and manufactures application-specific machine-vision inspection systems for packaging, food and beverage containers, and color printing. Applied Vision systems are sold worldwide through OEMs, value-added resellers, full-service distributors, and company direct.

The companies collaborated on the Veritas Quality project. They jointly identified ways of achieving higher quality standards in areas such as reducing customers' inspection costs and minimizing the number of failures in the field. It was named Emhart's "Project of the Year" for attaining the program's objectives.

Emhart's Veritas series of inspection systems incorporate Applied Vision's Genius vision processors to perform 100% automatic inspections with extreme accuracy on high-speed lines. "The technical expertise and product knowledge of Applied Vision greatly contributed to the success of our joint project," said Jeff Hartung, operations manager at Emhart Glass.
