JULY 3--To support its growing customer base in Southeast Asia, US-based machine-vision supplier Applied Vision (Akron, OH, USA) recently opened a service and support center in Malaysia and a direct-sales office in Singapore. "Machine vision is a necessity in Southeast Asia due to increasing competitive pressures and rising quality standards," said Bud Patel, vice president of business development at Applied Vision. "As the machine-vision partner to several metal-container manufacturers in Southeast Asia, we are committed to delivering quick turnaround and technical support."

Applied Vision's Southeast Asian support services are based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Through a strategic partnership with Formach Asia, Applied Vision offers 24-hour technical support on its line of machine-vision inspection systems for packaging, food and beverage containers, and color printing. A factory-trained engineering staff is available for on-site service and phone support. Demonstration equipment and a full line of spare parts are also located at this facility.
