Symagery image-reading system chosen by Unitech
FEBRUARY 11--Unitech America (www.ute.com) has selected the Symagery (Ottawa, Canada; www.symagery.com) SX5000 image-reading system as the driving technology behind its new MS360 imaging scanner. The MS360 is the latest hand-held scanner from Unitech and is designed to capture high-quality images and read both one- and two-dimensional (1-D and 2-D) barcodes in markets including the industrial, shipping/receiving, postal, document-processing, and insurance sectors. The scanner is robustly designed for long-lasting use in industrial environments.
Symagery's SX5000 image-reading system is ideally suited to the functional requirements of Unitech's MS360 as it provides the required components for image capture and decoding both linear 1-D and 2-D barcode symbologies. Based on the Symagery CMOS megapixel image sensor, the system comprises an imager engine, decoder board, and application software. With a compact, industry-standard form factor, the SX5000 series is designed for quick and easy integration into most existing hand-held devices, portable data terminals, and other OEM devices.
The SX5000 barcode decoding software provides omnidirectional barcode reading and selectable symbology recognition. Unitech takes advantage of the highly customizable features of the application software, offering its customers the ability to read multiple barcodes, including standard 1-D barcodes and postal codes, as well as more complex 2-D images such as DataMatrix and PDF417 symbologies. In addition, the MS360 uses the Symagery engine to provide megapixel image-capture functionality, allowing customers in sectors such as the insurance industry to easily take high-quality pictures of, for example, damaged goods.
