PFU Systems introduces 64-bit PCI system-on-module architecture
OCTOBER 31--PFU Systems Inc. (Santa Clara, CA), a Fujitsu company, has announced its system-on-module architecture based on high-throughput, 64-bit PCI bus technology. The Blazor architecture allows OEMs to revolutionize the development of high-performance embedded solutions that require an x86 host subsystem with high processing and data throughput capabilities, as in medical and industrial imaging, network security, network storage virtualization, VoIP convergence networks, intelligence warfare, and HDTV video production and distribution. The highly integrated Blazor accommodates a variety of dense form factors for faster, easier, and more flexible deployment in an existing infrastructure.
The Blazor architecture integrates a complete embedded Intel Architecture x86 host subsystem, with CPU, chipset, DRAM expansion, 64-bit PCI buses, hardware monitoring, and RAS (reliability, availability, serviceability) BIOS in a single system-on-module for high-performance embedded applications. It supports low-voltage Intel Pentium III processors or later with L2 cache of 512 Mbytes or 1 Mbyte in single or dual processor configurations, and dual 64-bit/66-MHz PCI or PCI-X buses, offering a compelling performance/watt ratio in an ultracompact footprint.
The system-on-module host functionality gives OEM designers the freedom necessary to design within a desired form factor, adding only necessary I/O subsystem functionality. Hence, OEMs are able to go to market with innovative products, keeping costs low, reducing development time, risk and cost.
