Printed-circuit-board manufacturing dips in June 2003

JULY 31--IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries (Northbrook, IL; www.ipc.org) has released its findings from its monthly Interconnect Manufacturing Services (IMS)/Printed Circuit Board Statistical Program.

JULY 31--IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries (Northbrook, IL; www.ipc.org) has released its findings from its monthly Interconnect Manufacturing Services (IMS)/Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Statistical Program. The US IMS/PCB industry book-to-bill ratio for June 2003 was 1.02. Sales billed (shipments) in June 2003 decreased 22.3% from June 2002, and orders booked decreased 12.5% from June 2002. Compared to 2002, bookings of PCBs are down 19.7% year-to-date, while shipments of PCBs are down 24.8% year-to-date.

The IMS/PCB Business Report, an IPC statistical report that tracks the dynamics of the US IMS industry, reported the IMS/PCB shipment index was 110.9, and the IMS/PCB booking index was 120.8 for June 2003. The IPC IMS/PCB shipment index in June 2003 increased 14.4% from 97.0 in May 2003, and the IPC IMS/PCB booking index in June 2003 increased 16.3% from 103.9 in May 2003.
