Scientists achieve vision-guidance breakthrough

SEPTEMBER 24--An innovative multicamera, 3-D technology ("MC3D") for developing next-generation vision-guided robotic (VGR) applications for industry and government is now available from Braintech Inc. (North Vancouver, BC, Canada; www.braintech.com). The MC3D suite of technologies enables guidance of robots in applications involving large parts or objects with a mixture of visual landmark features. Some industrial examples include guidance of industrial robots to automotive body panels and chassis components to perform robotic welding, sealant and adhesive deposition, glass decking, automated assembly, and inspection. As well, the company plans to explore the use of MC3D in the area of real-time visual tracking for national security requirements.

Braintech's VGR technologies give industrial robots the "eyes" to handle and assemble parts with a high degree of consistent quality and productivity.
