The Matrox Meteor-II/Camera Link frame grabber incorporates the Camera Link serial transmission standard for real-time transfers to system or VGA memory. It offers acquisition rates to 50 MHz, trigger input and timer outputs, 32-Mbyte on-board buffering, and packed or planar transfers of color or multiple monochrome streams. System inspects boards
The Vi-3200 automated optical inspection system validates boards of dimensions up to 24 x 24 in. at a throughput of 150,000 components/hour. It verifies component positioning (x, y, and q), polarity, text, presence/absence, solder paste and joints, and bridges. Using Windows NT 4.0, the system can be programmed using Gerber, CAD, or ASCII/Centroid data. A laser light source covers the axial direction, and a video camera covers a 45° angle direction to perform 3-D inspections of solder-paste height and volume. A range of lighting devices is offered to accommodate various vision and imaging applications. Light-emitting-diode (LED) ringlights contain 100 chip-on-board LEDs and an aspherically corrected lens and come in white, red, green, or blue. Line LED lights 98 mm long with 100 LEDs maintain a uniform line of illumination. Area LED lights contain 88 chips and a lens to deliver a diverging beam of light. Sensor connects to Ethernet
The In-Sight 1000 vision sensor integrates a digital Sony 1/3-in., 640 x 480-pixel CCD camera, PowerPC DSP processor, preinstalled vision software library, and Ethernet communications into a single compact unit. No programming is required, and the sensor can be networked to other In-Sight sensors throughout a manufacturing plant. Software support includes the PatFind part-location tool, which is based on PatMax technology. Vision applications can be set up using a built-in spreadsheet interface, and tools and parameters can be selected from drop-down menus. The sensor automatically generates tool results and places them into workshop cells for linking to the application. Cameras add FireWire DFW-SX900 and DFW-X700 1/2-in. progressive-scan CCD cameras come with the one-cable IEEE-1394 (FireWire) digital interface. They provide uncompressed color (YUV 4:2:2) digital output resolution of 1.45 million pixels (1280 x 9600 at 7.5 frames/s for the SX900 and 0.8 million pixels (1024 x 768) at 15 frames/s for the X700. Software kit promotes prototyping The Imaging Developer's Kit provides a development platform for rapid prototyping of imaging and video systems based on the TMS320C6000 platform. Camera adds PowerPC The MachineCam area-scan digital camera contains a PowerPC processor with 64 Mbytes of memory, VxWorks operating system, and Ethernet connectivity. Camera packs processor VC2065 monochrome camera can deliver more than 50 frames/s with 800 x 600-pixel resolution. Board-level camera The CV-M10 board-level camera uses two printed-circuit boards, each measuring 1.57 x 1.57 in. A 1/2-in. CCD sensor and driver circuits are located on one board; timing and video circuits are located on the other board. Both boards are permanently interconnected via a 2.17-in. flexible cable that allows the boards to be freely positioned. The camera can be operated in continuous mode at 25 progressive-scan frames/s, externally pulse-triggered to govern shutter speed, or edge-triggered at a preset shutter speed between 1/50 and 1/10,000 s. The camera provides synchronization with HD/VD pulses (HD/WEN in the case of external-trigger mode.) A frame-delay readout mode stores the captured image in the CCD sensor within 80 ms. Sensor offers wide dynamic range The Kodak KLI-8023 8000-pixel trilinear CCD image sensor delivers a 15-bit dynamic range. It features 9-µm-square pixels arranged in three rows of red, green, and blue photoelements. Independent electronic exposure control for each color row achieves system color balance, and a single shift register per channel minimizes system electronics. Color filter material boosts responsivity by more than 2.5X in the blue region of the visible spectrum. Photoresponse nonuniformity is 3% across the 72-mm sensor length. Converter module supports standards The DFG/FW1 uncompressed video to IEEE-1394 converter module can be connected to x-ray, ultrasound, infrared, and video cameras and supports up to eight PAL, NTSC, and SECAM video inputs and the IEEE-1394 serial bus standard. Video signals are digitized by two 9-bit A/D converters and comb filters and transferred to a PC via a FIFO buffer.
