Omron donates close to $1 million toward Asian tsunami relief

JANUARY 10--Omron Corporation (Kyoto, Japan; www.omron.com) will donate 100 million yen through the Japan Community for UNICEF for victims of the Asian tsunami.

JANUARY 10--Omron Corporation (Kyoto, Japan;www.omron.com) will donate 100 million yen (close to US $1 million) through the Japan Community for UNICEF for victims of the Asian tsunami following the earthquake off Indonesia. Additional pledges from local Omron offices and affiliated companies will also be donated through the Japan Community for UNICEF. Omron is working to encourage all employees, divisions, and companies to understand CSR with a global view and to adapt Corporate Social Responsibility into their daily activities.

Established in 1933 and headed by president and CEO Hisao Sakuta, Omron has more than 26,000 employees in more than 35 countries working to provide products and services to customers in a variety of fields including industrial automation, electronic components, social systems (ticket gate machines, ticket vending machines, and traffic control), and health care.
