JUNE 16--Dalsa Corporation (Waterloo, ON, Canada;www.dalsa.com) has signed a CMOS technology license agreement with Royal Philips Electronics N.V. This agreement provides Dalsa with a license to use Philips patent rights, know-how, and product and prototype device designs relating to CMOS imaging technology. Following the announcement of Dalsa's new CMOS Business Unit in early 2005, this access to Philips' CMOS technology will immediately provide the company's expanded CMOS group with a strong base from which to launch its new products.

Initial focus for the CMOS group, and for the application of this licensed intellectual property (IP), will be in the professional and high-volume industrial markets. The value of this access to CMOS IP is enhanced by the company's recent hiring of several key scientists and engineers at its Eindhoven, NL, location, all of whom participated in the development of the licensed IP.

Savvas Chamberlain, CEO of Dalsa Corporation, commented, "This will allow us to make use of the CMOS technology and product designs almost immediately and well into the future. Furthermore, these new additions add greatly to our existing CMOS technology portfolio and complement the first-class CMOS team we have in Waterloo, as we strive to address exciting new markets."
