DECEMBER 16--The Japan Industrial Imaging Association held an orientation meeting at the '05 International Technical Exhibition on Image Technology and Equipment (Pacifico, Yokohama 7--9 Dec. 2005). More than 70 companies and 100 people came to the session. The purpose of this association is to drive and promote standardization of advanced imaging technology for the growth of the machine-vision market. The policies of this association are nonprofit-making, open to international members, and each member stands at equal footing.
The association hopes to
1. drive and promote standardization of advanced imaging technology
2. join and propose international standardization committees
3. hold and organize seminars and lectures for growth of machine-vision market
4. publish minutes of each meeting for standardization and important information
5. investigate and publish technology trend, stats of market
6. organize and support international meetings and events related to machine vision.
Three AIA (Automated Imaging Association) board members attended the session. On behalf of AIA, Keith Reuben, president of DALSA Coreco, gave a speech congratulating and expressing the wish to cooperate with this association.
The AIA and EMVA are driving and promoting some standardization. It ensures globalization and growth of the machine-vision market.
In establishing Japan Industrial Imaging Association, not only camera, frame grabber, lens, lighting, software manufacturers but also system integrators, are involved. This shows that the association aims to have equity, fairness, and transparency and aims to cooperate with the AIA and EMVA.
The next official meeting is planned for February 2005.
