JULY 18--PixeLINK (Ottawa, ON, Canada; www.pixelink.com) is offering a new software application, Capture Standard Edition (SE), for microscopy. The company says it is a simple, fully featured, image capture application designed for use with microscopes and PixeLINK digital cameras. Key features and benefits include:

o Fast live preview of image data from the computer.
o Full control of camera and image capture settings.
o Image calibration and measurement to quantify image features.
o User-defined presets to rapidly change camera settings and measurement calibrations as microscope objectives are changed.
o An image database for archiving and storage of images and measurement data.
o A thumbnail preview of captured images.
o Image adjustment, enhancement and arithmetic features.

The features of PixeLINK Capture SE are especially relevant for brightfield microscopy in a clinical or research environment. The software is designed to assist with rapid image capture in a high-productivity environment where a large number of images have to be captured, analyzed and archived.

PixeLINK Capture SE is included with each PixeLINK PL-A600 Series microscopy camera kit. Licenses can also be purchased separately for $200 USD. A 15-day trial version is available form the PixeLINK web site.
