Edmund Optics launches second Chinese manufacturing location in Shenzhen

APRIL 28--Edmund Optics (Barrington, NJ; www.edmundoptics.com) announced the opening of a second Chinese manufacturing location in the southern town of Shenzhen.

APRIL 28--Edmund Optics (Barrington, NJ;www.edmundoptics.com) announced the opening of a second Chinese manufacturing location in the southern town of Shenzhen. This new 2400-sq ft facility will be dedicated to optical design and cleanroom assembly. Jeremy Chang, who holds a Ph.D. in optics from Imperial College, University of London, UK, will now direct both the Shenzhen and Shanghai facilities.

Chang previously worked for Concord Camera Company as the director of new product & optical development (2001-2004) and for Kodak Haking Optical Company as the general manager (1994-2001). Chang will be working to further develop Edmund's manufacturing operations in China, including facility enhancements to produce optomechanical assemblies. Several new optical design engineers will be hired at the Shenzhen site to further complement the current design and testing capabilities in Shanghai.

Edmund Optics has been a supplier of optics and optical components to industry since 1942, designing and manufacturing a wide array of multielement lenses, lens coatings, imaging systems, and optomechanical equipment.
