FEBRUARY 23--Infrared Solutions Inc. (Minneapolis, MN; www.infraredsolutions.com) has announced its marketing partnership in North America with Jenoptik Laser, Optik, Systeme GmbH of Jena, Germany, and the launch of the VarioCAM line of infrared (IR) cameras. Jenoptik Laser, Optik, Systeme is an evolution of the optical firm Carl Zeiss AG. Its background in lens technology and devices, such as high-quality microscopes, has positioned it to develop high-end IR cameras with sophisticated features.

The VarioCAM camera has 320 x 240 resolution with a 640 x 480 option. It also offers a wide range of temperature measurement from -40°C to 1200°C as standard and a wide selection of optional lenses (coupled with zoom focus features), motion video, live IR image and still photo capability, sophisticated software, and a host of other features.

The cameras are designed around a maintenance-free uncooled microbolometer IR detector that produces a highly sensitive video-rate thermal image, which can be viewed on the camera's integral color LCD. Clear imaging allows users to scan and capture both moving and still targets and record subtle temperature changes in real time. Advanced IR technology permits a range of options including allowing users to freeze the IR image and retain in-field, noncontact, fully radiometric temperature measurements on all of the points on a single image. The VarioCAM line of cameras also offers a range of sophisticated report writing and analysis software options, which augment the camera capabilities and make it suitable for a wide range of applications.

Infrared Solutions designs, manufactures, and markets IR imaging systems worldwide. The company has focused on the development of Sharper Simpler Smarter infrared cameras and has been successful in construction, preventative maintenance, and nondestructive testing applications that require a unique combination of user-friendly design, reliability, and technical features.
