Infineon sees global semiconductor market growing 4% in FY2002

JANUARY 28--German chipmaker Infineon Technologies AG (Munich; www.infineon.com) expects the worldwide semiconductor market to grow 4% to $146 billion in 2002.
JANUARY 28--German chipmaker Infineon Technologies AG (Munich; www.infineon.com) expects the worldwide semiconductor market to grow 4% to $146 billion in 2002, after a sharp decline seen in 2001. Europe's second-largest chipmaker expects the global semiconductor industry to have declined to $141 billion in 2001, a drop of 31% from the record year in 2000, CEO Ulrich Schumacher said.
After modest growth in 2002, the company expects the market to grow a robust 26% to $185 billion in 2003 before the industry hits new record heights in 2004, growing to $241 billion.
