SEPTEMBER 5-- Analogic Corp. (Peabody, MA) has received a follow-on order for 245 additional Explosive Assessment Computed Tomography (EXACT) Systems from L-3 Communications' Security and Detection Systems division. The EXACT system is the heart of L-3's eXaminer 3DX6000, a certified explosive-detection system that is being purchased by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to be installed at major airports across the USA.

Production of the systems was transferred from Analogic's Peabody plant to its new computed-tomography manufacturing and service facility in Haverhill, MA, in late July. The new facility is expected to ramp up to a production rate of about 120 systems a month in October.

The order brings to 425 the number of systems that have been ordered by L-3 for delivery to the TSA this year. L-3 has also ordered parts for 17 additional systems. Analogic expects to ship all 442 EXACT systems by Dec. 31.
