JUNE 11--The 1394 Trade Association (www.1394ta.org) will hold its third-quarter general meeting in Montreal, Canada, July 10-12, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, sponsored by Mindready Solutions Inc. (www.mindready.com), a supplier of test engineering, manufacturing automation, and real-time communications solutions. IEEE 1394, which is marketed under the trade names FireWire and i.LINK, is designed for audio and video connectivity in consumer electronics and computer products. It is now installed in virtually all camcorders and notebook PCs and is found is many other CE and PC products worldwide.
The third-quarter meeting will include work group sessions designed to expand and enhance the 1394/FireWire standard for a wide range of home-networking, audio-video, computer, and automotive applications. A reception and news conference for the regional electronics and business media is now scheduled for Friday July 12. It will include a series of presentations and news announcements about the new FireWire logo, new 1394-equipped products, and new standards development.
"The 1394/FireWire standard is making steady progress across all markets, with new consumer and computer applications coming into the market every week," said James Snider, executive director of the 1394 Trade Association. "During the Montreal meeting we will continue the acceleration in product development we now see worldwide."
