Viisage buys face-recognition technology from defunct eTrue

JUNE 3--Viisage Technology Inc. (Littleton, MA; www.viisage.com) has acquired the intellectual property and related assets of the face-recognition arm of eTrue.com--the Miros division.

JUNE 3--Viisage Technology Inc. (Littleton, MA; www.viisage.com) has acquired the intellectual property and related assets of the face-recognition arm of eTrue.com--the Miros division. As a result of this acquisition, Viisage will expand its face-recognition market by gaining access to an established base of customers with more than 400 installations in Europe.

In addition, this acquisition allows Viisage to continue to strengthen and expand its product offering to the airport and other security markets. "This acquisition continues to solidify our position as a leading provider of face-recognition solutions," said Cam Queeno, Viisage chief marketing officer. "Not only have we gained an immediate presence in new markets, but we have opened up additional channels for our existing products, which can represent many new market opportunities."

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
