JULY 18--Analogic Corporation (Peabody, MA; www.analogic.com) has received additional orders for its EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography (EXACT) systems from L-3 Communication's Security and Detection Systems division. The EXACT is the "heart" of L-3's eXaminer 3DX6000, a certified explosives-detection system (EDS) that is being purchased by the US Transportation Security Administration to be installed at major airports across the USA.

Certified EDSs are being ordered incrementally as funds are appropriated by Congress and airport installation plans are developed. L-3 has ordered 80 additional units to be manufactured by Analogic, drawing on the 200 kits of long-lead-time components previously ordered as announced, and has ordered an additional 142 component kits for systems to be delivered later in the year.
