FLIR Systems profit nearly quadruples, sales strong

FEBRUARY 13--Fourth-quarter profits for FLIR Systems Inc. (Portland, OR; www.flir.com) nearly quadrupled on strong sales growth, according to the company.

FEBRUARY 13--Fourth-quarter profits for FLIR Systems Inc. (Portland, OR; www.flir.com) nearly quadrupled on strong sales growth, according to the company. The firm posted earnings of $10.3 million, or $0.61 per share, up from $2.6 million, or $0.18 per share, a year ago. Revenue rose 14%, to $65 million.

"Sales of our imaging products, particularly our airborne and ground-based systems, were quite strong for the year, and demand for our hand-held thermography products was also healthy," president and chief executive Earl Lewis said. "We now turn our attention to building on what we have achieved thus far, and we look forward to continued growth in 2002."

FLIR reaffirmed forecasts for 2002 revenue of $250 million to $260 million and net earnings of $2 to $2.15 per share.
