SEPTEMBER 18--Firstsight Vision (www.visionelements.co.uk) is offering the new Dolphin range of cameras for the IEEE 1394 bus from Allied Vision Technology (AVT). The cameras include features such as 15 frame stores for burst acquisition and storage of images prior to download to the host, ideal for multicamera applications and true partial-scan capabilities. In addition, the cameras have built-in shading correction and 63 user-configurable lookup tables for image preprocessing, along with 12 bit A/D.

For interfacing to the outside world, the cameras also can remove the need for the vision system to have an I/O card with user-configurable I/O on board, including a shaft encoder input ideal for synchronizing image capture and reject control on conveyor based.

There are four models in the range, two monochrome and two color. All cameras are IEEE1394 DCAM1.3 compatible

All Dolphin cameras use SONY interline-transfer progressive scan sensors and are aimed at machine-vision applications. The cameras offer a special sequencing mode, and firmware updates can be performed via the host interface. Horizontal, vertical, and full binning is offered on the Dolphin 201C model for increased frame rates and enhanced sensitivity.
