APRIL 15--National Instruments (NI; Austin, TX;www.ni.com) reports that leading instrument vendors, including Tektronix, Rohde & Schwarz, and Anritsu, have joined its new Instrument Driver Developer Program. This program is a cooperative effort to create standard LabVIEW driver software, ensuring that users can quickly integrate LabVIEW graphical development software with a variety of test instruments using little or no programming.

NI works with Instrument Driver Developer Program members to create and certify LabVIEW instrument drivers that comply with requirements and recommendations for architecture, programming style, error handling, front panels, block diagrams, icons, and online help. Through this program, instrument vendors can deliver seamless integration with industry-standard software to their users.

Instrument Driver Developer Program members can store and promote their instrument drivers on the Instrument Driver Network, an industry source for instrument drivers atni.com/idnet. Here, engineers can choose from more than 1400 certified instrument drivers from 150 manufacturers to integrate their instruments with LabVIEW. NI maintains program members' instrument drivers for at least one year and provides technical support for all customers downloading instrument drivers.
