APRIL 14--DisplaySearch (Austin TX;www.displaysearch.com), a flat-panel display (FPD) market research and consulting firm, held its US FPD Conference 2003 earlier this month. At the conference, DisplaySearch projected that the FPD market will rise at an 18% CAGR (compounded average growth rate) to $67 billion in 2007, with TVs expected to become the single largest application in 2007 at a 33% share and 73% CAGR. Desktop monitors will fall to the second-largest application with a 32% share as revenues rise at a 17% CAGR as the price gap between LCD monitors and CRT monitors continues to narrow. LCD monitors are expected to overtake CRT monitors in Q3-04. Larger FPDs will grow rapidly as penetration grows in the TV market with 21 in. and larger displays are expected to reach a 35% share of total revenues in 2007, up from 5% in 2002.

DisplaySearch also announced the following rankings:
top ranked TFT LCD manufacturer: LG.Philips LCD for the second consecutive year,
top ranked notebook PC customer: IBM for the third consecutive year,
top ranked LCD monitor customer: Samsung.
