Cosponsors support 1394 Trade Association Developers' Conference in Tokyo

MAY 12--Texas Instruments Inc. (Dallas, TX; www.ti.com) and Wipro Technologies (Santa Clara, CA: www.wipro.com) will cosponsor the 1394 Trade Association (Grapevine, TX; www.1394ta.org) annual Developers' Conference in Tokyo, Japan, next month.

MAY 12--Texas Instruments Inc. (Dallas, TX;www.ti.com) and Wipro Technologies (Santa Clara, CA; www.wipro.com) will cosponsor the 1394 Trade Association (Grapevine, TX; www.1394ta.org) annual Developers' Conference in Tokyo, Japan, next month. The companies join Apple Computer, which is the premier sponsor and host, for the first 1394 TA Developers' Conference held in Japan. The conference is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, through Thursday, June 19, at Apple's Japan headquarters, located in the Tokyo Opera City Tower in Shinjuku.

Both Texas Instruments and Wipro will sponsor several presentations at the conference, including two case studies by Burke Henehan of Texas Instruments, entitled "Long Haul 1394 Implementation," and "S800 1394b PCI Add-in Card Implementation," focusing on the new 800-Mbit/s speed provided by the new 1394b standard. Wipro will present a discussion of in-vehicle systems using the 1394 standard, entitled "1394-Control Area Network Gateway Architecture," by Debashis Mukherjee, and a comparison of USB and 1394 in various designs, presented by Trinadh Pala.

Apple Computer will conduct a developers' track during the conference. In addition, Michael Teener of Apple, the cofounder of the 1394 Trade Association's Network Work Group, will present an update on "S800 BaseT" networking.
