New image-acquisition and processing toolboxs unveiled
MAY 12--The MathWorks (Natick, MA; www.mathworks.com) has released new capabilities in its tools for imaging applications with the launch of the Image Acquisition Toolbox and the release of Image Processing Toolbox 4. Based on MatLab, the toolboxes provide engineers and scientists with a dedicated solution for imaging applications that combines a direct interface to industry-standard frame grabbers and video devices with advanced image-processing algorithms.
With the power to acquire image data directly into the MatLab environment, customers can visualize and evaluate live digital image streams, apply image-processing algorithms to perform analyses of data, and develop custom algorithms to process image data. By eliminating the need to write custom code or use single-purpose software tools during the acquisition and analysis phases, companies can reduce research and development cycles and produce and react to image-based results in a shorter time frame.
