NOVEMBER 9--PennWell Corp., a diversified business-to-business information company headquartered in Tulsa, OK (www.pennwell.com), has announced the launch of Lightwave Europe, a monthly technology magazine for the European fiberoptics industry. The first issue will appear in March 2002. Lightwave Europe will have a controlled circulation of 15,050 across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

"Lightwave Europe will be the first European-based magazine to cover fiberoptics technology exclusively for the telecommunications industry," said David Janoff, senior vice president of the Advanced Technology Division. "Other trade magazines cover this technology from a business standpoint or as a subcategory of other optical technologies. However, our approach will be to concentrate on technology itself. We plan to offer in-depth technical articles so that European post and telecom companies, carriers, Internet data centers, and Internet service providers will have a clearer understanding of the best optical-fiber products to purchase and the best fiber technologies to invest in."
