Last month Adil Shafi, an industry veteran and major contributor to the AIA and Vision Systems Design magazine died at the age of 51, leaving behind a wife and two children.
"Adil had always been actively involved, as a speaker, session moderator, author, committee member, Board Director, and most recently, webinar instructor," said Jeff Burnstein, President of the AIA. "Frankly, that only scrapes the surface of his contributions to our associations and the industries we represent. Many of our key activities likely would never have been launched if it were not for Adil’s drive and commitment."
He added, "He was instrumental in the development of our International Conference on Vision Guided Robotics, willing to play any role necessary to help educate users about how vision guided robots could benefit them," said Burnstein.
A special fund has been established to help the family. "The Association for Advancing Automation will be donating and I know that many of our members will be donating as well," said Burnstein. If you would like to contribute, please click here.
"I think this is a great way of not only helping the family but also of honoring Adil’s legacy. I know the family will appreciate donations of any size - our heart goes out to them in this time of need."
