MAY 21--Pro-Lite Technology (Cranfield, UK; www.pro-lite.uk.com) will hold a technical tutorial in conjunction with Labsphere (North Sutton, NH; www.labsphere.com). The tutorial will address the science of radiometry and photometry and the applications of integrating spheres in optical radiation measurements. The half-day tutorial will be held on Wednesday June 23, 2004, at the Cranfield Innovation Centre, Cranfield University, near Milton Keynes in England. The speaker is Angelo Arecchi, formerly technical director of Labsphere and an acclaimed optical engineer. Attendance is free of charge, but delegates are requested to preregister with Pro-Lite.

Arecchi will speak on the theory and application of diffuse reflectance materials, provide an overview of radiometry and photometry, and present integrating-sphere theory and design considerations. He will review divergent source radiometry and photometry, imager test and calibration, display measurements, and the measurement of the optical properties of materials.

Pro-Lite is a photonics distributor that has been providing value-added service to the laser and optical radiation measurement communities in the UK and Ireland since its formation in 2002. Pro-Lite supplies lasers operating from 157 nm to 4.5 μm, laser-beam diagnostics, safety eyewear and related accessories, as well as precision optomechanics, UV-IR detectors, and equipment for measuring optical radiation.

Further information and registration forms are available from Pro-Lite by calling 01234 436110 or by e-mail to Robert Yeo at Pro-Lite Technology ([email protected]).
