Viisage Technology awarded additional facial-recognition patent

SEPTEMBER 23--Viisage Technology Inc. (Littleton, MA; www.viisage.com), a leader in facial-recognition technology and identification systems and solutions, has been awarded an additional US patent, further extending its intellectual property in the fast growing and critical field of biometric technology.

(Littleton, MA; www.viisage.com), a leader in facial-recognition technology and identification systems and solutions, has been awarded an additional US patent, further extending its intellectual property in the fast growing and critical field of biometric technology. The US Patent and Trademark Office issued Patent No. 6,430,306 directed to systems and methods that use facial recognition to create, maintain, and use databases that store data records of individuals.

In particular, systems and methods are disclosed that use facial recognition to control the production of identification cards that include an image of a person's face and demographic data to prevent the issuance of fraudulent identification cards. This patent supports Viisage in the driver's license, passport, federal identification, trusted flyer, and other identification document markets.
