MAY 16--Viisage Technology Inc. (Littleton, MA; www.visage.com) has formed a strategic alliance with Hummingbird Defense Systems Inc. (HDSI; Phoenix, AZ; www.hbird.net) to integrate its face-recognition technology with HDSI PECOS command-and-control software environment to create a new security solution--the Viisage Biometric Command & Control Platform (BC2P). BC2P is expected to provide the security and control industries an unprecedented networked application to securely monitor and control an entire facility. BC2P can connect groups of facilities, such as airports and ports of entry, to a centralized command, control and communication center and broadcast target images over wireless networks to law-enforcement officials equipped with handheld PDAs.

HDSI PECOS technology delivers a powerful universal Web-enabled architecture for integrating and controlling a wide array of security devices throughout a large facility. For more than 10 years, PECOS has been in operation in classified federal government facilities, including providing security for nuclear weapons. Its mature and robust environment interfaces to security systems, CCTV, HVAC, fire alarms, building controls, sensors and voice, and data and video networks.
