APRIL 11--eTrue (Southborough, MA; www.etrue.com) is partnering with Baltimore Technologies (London, England; www.baltimore.com), a supplier of electronic security products. It will integrate its biometric-authentication service with Baltimore's SelectAccess technology. The combination will provide comprehensive secure access control and authorization management using multiple biometrics, such as face and fingerprint identification.
By integrating these two platforms, businesses will provide users with a high level of trusted access to valuable data and applications on Web sites and networks. Users will be authenticated using multiple biometrics and then authorized to access data and applications and conduct business in a secure manner. Customers in the health-care, financial-services, and government markets will be able to provide secure access to business-critical data and applications for employees, partners, and customers

One of the major focus areas of the partnership will be health care. Federal regulations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act require health-care providers and insurers to put in place audit trails to patient records and more robust access control to increase patient privacy.
The eTrue Internet outsourcing service authenticates users for both Web and local network logon. Through the use of multiple biometrics, exception handling, and a call center, eTrue provides 100% user authentication. The service is hosted by Exodus Communications. eTrue manages the 24/7 service for its customers.
