At Intertraffic 2014 in Amsterdam, Basler will debut a real-time trigger function with an uncompressed YUV output format for detail-rich images in license plate recognition and security applications.

Combined with Basler’s IP network cameras, the new real-time trigger function enables specific events to be recorded parallel to the video stream and to output them in the uncompressed YUV format. For example, a Basler network camera could produce an individual JPEG image of a traffic violation while simultaneously recording video. These large-file images are sent directly to the PC in uncompressed form, ensuring that no image information is lost in the comparison process.

The first Basler camera to feature the YUV feature will be the BIP2-1600-25c-dn network camera. This 1,600 x 1,200 pixel camera features a CCD image sensor with 4.4 µm x 4.4 µm pixel size and a maximum frame rate of 25 fps in MJPEG, MPEG-4, and H.264 formats. These new cameras with the YUV format will be suitable for use in license plate detection, security, enforcement, and other intelligent transportation system applications.

Basler will debut the BIP2-1600-25c-dn at booth 11.722 at Intertraffic 2014 in Amsterdam from March 25-28.
