Last July we wrote about an image NASA's Cassini spacecraft captured of Saturn and its ring system. Though the image itself is stunning, what is perhaps even more remarkable is how distant and miniscule Earth appears in the background. Wide-angle cameras, which are part of the Imaging Science Subsystem on Cassini, were used to capture the images. The cameras contained a CCD image sensor that consists of a 1,024 square array of pixels, each 12 µm on a side, a focal length of 200mm, and a field of view of 3.5°.
