DECEMBER 17, 2007--Cognex (NATICK, MA, USA) has received two orders totaling nearly $200,000 from a large Chinese manufacturer of cartons and other packaging for the consumer products industry. The company, based in Shenzhen, China, will use Cognex In-Sight vision sensors on high-speed packaging lines to inspect cartons and other consumer packaging materials for defects such as bubbles, creases, missing seals, and printing errors.

"This sale is particularly significant for Cognex because it was a key account we took away from an entrenched competitor," said Robert Shillman, Cognex chairman and CEO. "We are starting to gain some traction for our MVSD products in China, especially with machine builders for the packaging industry. We've already closed four of the top 10 packaging machine builders in China, and we believe there's great potential there for more high-volume orders."
