JULY 11--Polytec PI Inc. (Tustin, CA), a provider of laser-based measurement systems to North America, has reorganized to become Polytec Inc. (www.polytec.com). The reorganization completes the separation of Polytec and PI's North American operations. The separation strategy was implemented to better serve Polytec and PI customers in North America. This stateside change mirrors the physical and financial separation in 2002 of the parent businesses in Germany--Polytec GmbH and Physik Instrumente GmbH (PI).
Says Polytec president Michael Townsend, "We have taken the strategic step of separating these two companies so that each can focus on its distinct markets, while building on the brand awareness each company has developed worldwide as Polytec or PI.
