The new Ventus 275 midwave infrared camera core from Sierra-Olympic Technologies, a 640 x 512 x 15µm imaging engine with an f/5.5, 19-275mm continuous zoom optic, is designed for integration into surveillance system enclosures and other imaging gimbals.

An indium antimonide focal plane array and an athermalized, parfocal zoom lens with a 28.4-2° horizontal field of view are chief features of the Ventus 275. Electronic image stabilization, automatic/manual gain control, adaptive contrast control, a shutter-based non-uniformity correct, and environmentally-sealed front lens element are other features of the new imaging engine. The Ventus 275 also provides optional target tracking/detection.

Output interfaces for the Ventus 275 include NTSC/PAL video, H.264.MJPEG IP video, and 14-bit Camera Link digital video. Sierra-Olympic cites security and surveillance, fixed monitoring, defense, and manned or unmanned ground and airborne platforms as ideal applications for the Ventus 275.
