AUGUST 2--phoenix|x-ray Systems + Services Inc. (Camarillo, CA; www.phoenix-xray.com) has introduced its nondestructive test analyser--the ndt|analyser--for large-scale or volume inspection and analysis of dense objects. The ndt|analyser is a high-resolution x-ray system incorporating phoenix|x-ray open-tube technology for analysis of objects such as camshafts, engine parts, electronic control modules, turbine blades, fuel injectors, and other generously sized objects.

The ndt|analyser uses a high-contrast, 9-in. image intensifier with a high-sensitivity CCD camera. It can inspect a moving camshaft or turbine engine blade in real time to locate potential design flaws, allowing a significant decrease in research-and-development costs. Other benefits of the ndt|analyser include viewing weld seams and electrical and mechanical components of fuel systems and screening for microcracks or voids of joints and internal chambers.

The phoenix|x-ray image|optimiser, running on a Windows NT platform, provides the user with flexibility and many image-processing functions used in a production environment. The user interface is optimized for ease and speed of operation. The image|assistant offers basic image processing and is included as a standard feature.

    The ndt|analyser is available with a 160-kV x-ray source, or optionally a 225-kV tube.
