The demand for transmission bandwidth and storage space in digital radiology continues to outstrip the capabilities of existing technology. Worse, the availability of lossy coding techniques for clinical diagnoses further implicates many complex legal and regulatory issues. This site details compression schemes such as vector quantization and wavelet-based sub-band coding and illustrates the results obtained.
