The ES 4.0, 4 million-pixel, CCD camera can capture 15 images/s (30 images/s with 2 x 2 binning) with electronic shuttering. It uses a 2048 x 2048-pixel interline transfer sensor with progressive scan readout and dark current suppression. Each 7.4-μm-square pixel achieves a 60% fill factor using a microlens. The camera is available in an 8- or optional 12-bit version and can achieve exposures as short as 127 μs.
