JUNE 5--The Sagemark Companies Ltd. (New York, NY) has begun the construction of a state-of-the-art, free-standing positron-emission-tomography (PET) medical diagnostic imaging center in Parsippany, NJ. Stephen A. Schulman, MD, president and CEO of the company's wholly owned subsidiary Premier P.E.T. Imaging International Inc., stated, "I am delighted with the selection of Parsippany as the site of the company's second PET imaging center, which has been designed to provide the area with the very best in medical diagnostic technology."

"Our company has put in place a seasoned, successful, full-service national PET imaging-center management team that collectively represents more than a century of experience in the medical-diagnostic-imaging field. In addition to our second center in Parsippany, the company has a number of additional PET imaging centers under development," continued Dr. Schulman.

Positron emission tomography is an advanced noninvasive early detection diagnostic imaging technology currently used for detection of certain cancers, cardiac viability, and neurological disorders. This medical diagnostic imaging technology allows physicians to accurately diagnose life-threatening diseases earlier than ever before, obviating unnecessary diagnostic or invasive surgical procedures.

Mary Beth Archibald, National director of marketing for the company, advises, "PET technology represents a breakthrough in medical diagnostic imaging and detection and offers significant positive benefits in the diagnosis and treatment of disease with the potential to revolutionize health care as we know it."
