DECEMBER 2--Demonstrating a significant advancement in medical imaging technology, Toshiba America Medical Systems (Tustin, CA; www.medical.toshiba.com) has introduced DynaDirect, the dynamic direct conversion flat-panel detector (FPD), on the company's Ultimax multipurpose x-ray system. With its debut at the Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, the Ultimax with DynaDirect promises to deliver the industry's highest-resolution x-ray images for greater diagnostic accuracy and enhanced patient care.
Toshiba's DynaDirect delivers 150-μm pixel size, which produces higher image resolution than other comparable FPD systems. It also covers a large surface area equivalent to cut film with a 14 x 14-inch square panel.
The DynaDirect FPD technology will be made available in a field upgrade package that only requires the exchange of a few critical components.
Ultimax is an all-digital, multi-purpose x-ray system that performs diagnostic R/F, nonvascular intervention, and general angiographic procedures. The system offers the industry's longest C-arm range, extensive motion and patient positioning capabilities, integrated dose management, as well as angiographic features that include Toshiba's DSA Bolus Chase. Many clinicians routinely use Ultimax for angiographic procedures and report up to a 40 percent reduction in procedure time.
